We created this mighty network to give all of you in pursuit of personal and social growth—educators, researchers, artists, coders, entrepreneurs and homemakers from around the world —a place to learn with compassionate educators in a supportive community.
WLWG is spread across two channels: this Mighty Network community platform and a Medium Blog. While we share knowledge there, here is where to look for more transformative learning opportunities.
Get answers to the burning questions you just can't learn alone or Google on matters like identity, diversity, peace, social justice, sustainability, power, and governance.
Learn with support, with best practices like active & participatory experiences, reflections, and immersion in a supportive & respectful community.
Make better, more well-informed decisions about how to be and live together in the world today.
Find inspiration and get encouragement from your peers. »-(¯`·.·´¯)->
Is it realistic to expect that we can learn all this alone? There seems to be a gaping hole between the resources put into formal education or workplace training and learning to be & live together in the world. That's why we started We Learn, We Grow. To start filling that hole.
It's a challenge for us and you because our mindsets are trained to accept and invest in learning support for professional growth, and we believe that we need to figure the bits for personal and social growth out on our ownsome. It is hard?
It need not be hard. Humans are always learning, and sometimes we need support for personal and social growth by way of people to learn with and recommendations and resources of the best ways to learn something to meet our needs. That's why we started We Learn, We Grow. To provide these good conditions for learning.
Have you done an online course before? Was it self-paced? How many learners were in it with you? Was it effective?
We understand the pitfalls of self-paced online courses and are trying a different route: live & interactive courses with compassionate faculty and a small group of learners with shared goals.
A vast amount of knowledge that is valuable to many is currently only available to a few—either locked in people’s heads or only accessible to select groups and formal structures. We want to connect the people who have the knowledge to the people who need it in a more informal way. Peer conversations bring together people with different perspectives and small differentials in knowledge so that they can share their knowledge for the benefit of others. Some peer conversations are charged while others are free.
In this century, the global is not ‘out there’. We influence each other socially and culturally through media and telecommunications. We travel and migrate. We trade across borders. International markets affect domestic markets. Our political and education systems come from somewhere. And we share one planet.
When we bring global perspectives together, something very important happens. It is the exchanges and the thoughts they provoke that leads us – more than some predetermined plan.
The WLWG Learning Framework is the result of rethinking the traditional educational model with her peers at The Story Of and United World Colleges to better prepare us for the future. It is based on the United Nation's Global Citizenship Education for Lifelong Learners.
The faculty and facilitators with whom you will learn are all experienced and trained in compassionate learning practices centred around your needs. This means they know how to facilitate discussions and critical reflections, and put your experience at the centre of the learning experience. If you have an idea to pitch as a facilitator, we are here listening. Learning is best when the differential in knowledge is accessible.
We've chosen the Mighty Networks Platform to host We Learn, We Grow. It gives a way for the community to interact with each other, and make sense together. This is what it looks like inside.
There are no prior criteria to join us except a willingness to learn and immerse in a supportive & respectful community. We've got topics you can explore, opportunities to meet our team, and recommendations on how to be and live together in the world today. You can also throw up questions on your mind for other community members to respond to.
For our paid plans, they, in general, are priced as "1-hour session = 1-hour Movement or Language class", and are available at three levels of financial experience. While we ask you to look inward, please don’t stress about it. Pay what feels right.
Let's get started.
